Supplier Information
Who & Where:
Sailing Sea Shades, Quintrell Downs,
Cornwall, maker of unique lampshades from recycled boat sails
Quality & Craft:
Each lampshade is handcrafted
using authentic recycled sails from Jeckells, a prestigious Norfolk sailmaker with nearly 200 years of heritage. The sails have lived their lives at sea before being transformed into distinctive lighting, meaning every piece carries genuine maritime character with unique weathering, colours, and sail markings. Traditional lampshade-making techniques ensure durability and quality.
Values & Impact:
By giving retired sails a second
life, Suzanne keeps marine materials out of the landfill and creates genuinely
sustainable homewares.
Background:
Suzanne spent a decade as a chief stewardess on sailing superyachts, travelling the world and developing an eye for detail and beautiful interiors. After retiring from yachting to raise her daughter in Cornwall, she wanted to stay connected to the sea whilst working flexibly around family life. Her lampshades weave together her love for sailing, design expertise from superyacht living, and Cornwall's maritime heritage.
Why Cornwall Collective stocks them:
Suzanne's authentic maritime background and commitment to genuine sail recycling create lampshades with real provenance and
sustainable credentials.
