Becky Bettesworth's vintage style prints and posters are reminiscent of the 1930s railway travel posters. The Solent forms part of the award-winning artist's seaside and travel poster collection.
The Solent is a 20 mile long stretch of water that borders South Hampshire. It is an important recreational area for water sports, particularly yachting and hosts the annual sailing event of Cowes week. It is sheltered by the Isle of Wight and is a very busy shipping lane for passenger, freight and military vessels. It is a sailing enthusiasts paradise and is the gateway over to the Isle of Wight.
Cowes Week inspired me to create this artwork and I just love the colours of the sails and the shimmer on the sea.
